Merkur Publishing, Inc. has been translating the best occult books since 1991, making them accessible to the English-speaking populace. Merkur is dedicated to providing spiritual writings for the development of the body, soul, and spirit on such topics as Hermetic Magic, Ancient Wisdom, The New Revelation and Alchemy. Most of our translations are based on Western philosophy for the Western mind, although we have also incorporated interesting Eastern-based philosophy into our collection of classic occult books; the proper way to perform the various yoga postures, and information on two great yogic systems can lead the aspiring student to reaching his or her spiritual talents.

The names of Merkur authors (such as Franz Bardon and Jakob Lorber) remain unknown to many in North America. However, throughout Europe they have become household names, because for several centuries their writings have been standards in the world of occult literature. The pages of these books contain the secrets of how to turn hate into love, ignorance into knowledge, fear into courage, despair into comfort, anger into patience, and sickness into health.

Everyone on earth has a reason for being. Everyone is important. This also applies to every plant, every animal, even every grain of sand. Without vegetation and animals, human beings could not exist. At some point in life, many come to the conclusion that existence is meaningless. The main reason for this is their one-sided approach to life. They have embraced physical existence and searched in the physical world for answers as to their existence, and have become totally dissatisfied with their findings, because answers to this question cannot be found in the physical world.

That is why every person on earth is a seeker of his own spiritual growth. Many different labels are attached to this search. The search consists of finding answers to questions; the problem arises when different answers are given for the same question. Then we realize that not all answers are true. Where then do we find the truth? Truth has one very important attribute which falsehood does not have — it does not contain an argument!

Falsehood also tries with all its power to keep truth away, because it cannot exist wherever truth is present. On earth, one of the most confounding things is the manner by which we communicate with each other. We do this primarily with our weakest sense, namely the sense of hearing. We also make no effort, when we communicate, to find out whether all parties have the same understanding of the words. Were we to do so, there would be no misunderstanding.

Many times, words are used wherein neither party — the speaker nor the listener — knows the true meaning of the words spoken. Therefore conversation becomes a meaningless endeavor. This is caused by accepting a meaning for words which is not the true meaning, or accepting another’s meaning for the words. This situation is more common now than at any other time in history because of the great amount of information available through many means.

For many years, the concept of the written word as truth was accepted by most people. The reason given: if it is on paper, it has to be true.

However, the answers to all our questions can be found if we look in the right place, such as in books on Hermetic Magic by Franz Bardon, and The New Revelation by Jakob Lorber. Many of us look where we expect these answers to be; that, however, is not always the case. In most instances, we close the door to where these answers can be found. And we do this because of preconceived ideas. Books which contain this information are written with the true meaning of the word, not with meanings which were later attributed to these words by people who did not know their meaning in the first place.

Another great obstacle in finding the truth is our own expectations; we believe that institutions which human beings have established will furnish the true answers, and many times this is not so. Otherwise we would have in our possession all the answers to our questions. How many answers given have turned out to be incorrect at a later date?

We have to search ourselves, and when we find the truth, we will know it because the truth remains the truth and does not change with the times, as all falsehood does.

So where do we find the truth? Where, for example, do we find the truth when it comes to the sciences? There is a difference between man’s science and pure science. Man’s science will not agree with many things which are natural, whereas pure science is nature itself; it is the manifestation of God, and holds no contradiction. Many human beings and scientists have never thought or become aware of the fact that the Bible and related literature contains the answers they are looking for.

Think of the word "magic." Would you expect to find the principles of nature in a book which has the word "magic" in its title? In the true sense of the word, that is what magic means — from the lowest laws of nature to the highest spiritual laws. Over the years, this word has assumed the meaning of something evil and sinister, whereas these attributes should more properly be ascribed to "sorcery." The words "magnate" and "magistrate" have the same root as the word "magic." We all too readily accept a negative concept over a positive one. We close the door to the source of all answers, because it does not agree with our concepts. Think of the word "occult." Most people immediately connect it to something which is of an evil nature, because those who have an interest in making the word "occult" an evil word have succeeded in so doing with some. "Occult" only means something hidden. Some dictionaries even explain the meaning as "beyond human understanding." Other dictionary meanings are: (1) of or pertaining to various magical arts and practices such as astrology, alchemy, necromancy, etc.; and (2) beyond human understanding, mysterious, occult powers.

One of the keys to all learning is "to search for ourselves, and to decide for ourselves."  We cannot find answers to our questions where they do not exist. And we believe that truth lies in the works of Franz Bardon, Jakob Lorber, Paracelsus, Karl von Eckartshausen, and others.

Merkur publications contain spiritual, astral and physical answers (as described in Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon), although they may not be agreeable with present-day concepts, regardless of the field of endeavor to which these questions are addressed, be it biology, anatomy, mathematics, physics, chemistry, religion, divine laws, and so forth.
